Welcome to the official web page of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The Faculty was established in 1962 as one the foundation faculties of the University. The faculty houses seven degree programmes in Demography and Social Statistics, Economics, Geography, Politics , Philosophy, Economics, Psychology and Sociology & Anthropology. It runs both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in these programmes. The faculty nurtures intellectual and creative talents in its staff and students; through the high premium it places on scholarly research and publications particularly for career advancement and in the students, through a rigorous training in its well designed academic programmes. The faculty strives regularly to reposition itself for relevance by engaging in cutting – edge research and by periodically reviewing its academic programmes in an effort to reflect important changes and development in scholarship so as to make the Faculty competitive and its academic programmes relevant and demand – driven. Qualifications: B.Sc (Hons), MPA (LASU), M.Sc. GIS (Ibadan), M.Sc., Ph.D (OAU) Dr. M.O. Olawole graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Nigeria with a degree in Geography (1992) and completed his PhD in Transport Geography at OAU, Ile-Ife (2013). He taught Geography ,Computer Studies and Economics at Lagos State Model College Kankon, Badagry and Ikotun High School, Lagos, Nigeria from 1994 to 2005, before joining the Geography Department at the Obafemi Awolowo University in 2005.

Mrs. M. O. Ajayi.
Mrs. Ajayi had served as a Graduate Teacher at Oluorogbo High School, Ile-Ife from March, 1984 to July, 2000 before her appointment as Administrative Officer I on 1st August, 2000 and rose to the position of Deputy Registrar, with effect from 1st October, 2013. Mrs. M. O. Ajayi was redeployed to the Faculty Office of Social Sciences with effect from 17th June, 2013. She is a quintessential administrator and had worked in various sections of the University system. She had attended many workshops, seminars and conferences both locally and internationally and had been resource person at workshops for Registry staff. She is a member of Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators ANUPA and Nigerian Institute of Management. She is happily married with children and grandchildren.
