Tthe quality of service rendered by local practitioners
in Nigeria inherently appears non cost effective and
substandard .
ILLUSTRATION
Mr. A buys a new car which one day develops a
minor problem. He immediately approaches his
popular mechanic to fix this fault.
The local mechanic promptly commences
repairs after agreement had been reached on
payment charges.
The local mechanic eventually
completes
the job,
test runs the car and convinces Mr.
A
that the fault had been fully rectified .
Mr. A believes this and happily pays the full sum
as agreed.
However to the chagrin of Mr. A, since
that time, it had been visits to the local technician. Reason: Mr. A’s car began developing ‘mysterious’
problems demanding mechanical attention.
QUESTIONS
Do you think this occurrence of repeated visits to
his mechanic was a form of coincidence?
Are local technicians in Nigeria fit for our local demands?
Could there be a proper regulation of local standards
(like NAFDAC) set up to tackle consumer related
issues?
Is it necessary that the Nigerian Consumer be
given a voice?
