APPLICATION

Formatting is applied to any selected content inside the input box where you supply contribution.For example,to apply a yellow colour attribute to a selected text, (hello in the picture below) you do the following

  • Select the text in the textbox
    With the text still selected click on the ‘yellow’ attribute under the Colours toolbar
    There appears tags (Y-) and (-y) around the selected text inside the text area box.

ADDITIONAL ILLUSTRATION

Say I typed the text Hello, how are you into the textarea box (The white box inside which you type your content) and I want to make the text how are you portion of the typed text (i.e. Hello, how are you) to be yellow in color instead of the normal black color, I will do the following

  1. I will select with my mouse, the portion of the text I want to make yellow in color (i.e. how are you) with it (i.e. how are you) still selected, I would go to the toolbar and click on ‘Yellow’ under the Colour attributes.
  2. The selected text(i.e. how are you) now becomes (Y-) how are you (-Y) so that the entire text Hello ,how are you now looks like this Hello , (Y-) how are you (-Y)

You can apply other attributes this way and quickly preview the changes made by clicking on the ‘PREVIEW YOUR CONTRIBUTION’ link before finally submitting the entry.

CAUTION NOTE

Tags must appear NESTED in an orderly manner (and not intermingled) for it to apply properly. If its not well nested it may not appear as intended.

FURTHER ILLUSTRATION

Say I typed the text Hello, how are you into the textarea box and I want to make the text how are you portion of the entire text Hello, how are you to be Both Yellow, Bold and Marquee, will do the following

I would firstly type my contribution into the textrea box (The white box inside which you type your contribution)

I will select with my mouse, the portion of the text I want to make yellow in color (i.e. how are you) with it (i.e. how are you) still selected, I would go to the toolbar and click on ‘yellow’ under the COLOUR attributes.
The selected text(i.e. how are you) now becomes (Y-) how are you (-Y) so that the entire text Hello ,how are you now looks like this Hello , (Y-) how are you (-Y) inside the text area box.
To apply the Bold attribute, I will select the text portion (Y-) how are you (-Y) inside the text area box. With it (i.e. (Y-) how are you (-Y)) still selected, I would go to the toolbar and click on ‘Bold’ under the Format attributes.
The selected text(i.e. (Y-) how are you (-Y)) now becomes(B-) (Y-) how are you (-Y)(B) so that the entire text Hello , (Y-) how are you (-Y) now looks like this Hello , (B-) (Y-) how are you (-Y)(B) inside the text area box.
Finally , to apply the Marquee attribute to the portion of the text, I will select with my mouse, the portion of the text I want to make Marquee in attribute (i.e. (B-) (Y-) how are you (-Y)(B)) with it (i.e. (B-) (Y-) how are you (-Y)(B)) still selected, I would go to the toolbar and click on ‘Marquee’ under the Spacing attributes.
The selected text(i.e. (B-) (Y-) how are you (-Y)(B)) now becomes (MA-)(B-) (Y-) how are you (-Y)(-B)(-MA) so that the entire text Hello , (B-) (Y-) how are you (-Y)(B) now looks like this Hello , (MA-)(B-) (Y-) how are you (-Y)(B)(-MA)

PLEASE Now note the pattern (Colours in the following examples are only for emphasis please)
( MA- )(B-) (Y-)(-Y)(-B)(-MA) ====>CORRECT
AND NOT:

( MA- )(B-) (Y-)(-Y) (-MA) (-B) ====>>WRONG

( MA- )(B-) (Y-)(-B) (-Y) (-MA) ====>>WRONG

( MA- )(B-) (Y-)(-MA) (-B) (-Y) ====>>WRONG

There is a common centre to a well nested tags .Tags are symmetrical about that centre. You may always preview changes by clicking on the ‘PREVIEW YOUR CONTRIBUTION’ link often to format to your satisfaction before finally submitting it.
