Outreach Programmes

The Centre draws from the coordinated pool of research associates across the University faculties/units for its community outreach activities:

  • Training of Peer Educators for HIV Prevention and Care for Students, and VCT training for Health Workers;
  • Training of Peer Educators among Students on issues relating to gender role relations, gender identity building, gender equity in the workplace and in particular tertiary institutions; gender based violence; and women’s right issues.
  • Counseling and Supports for Victims of Gender-based Violence;
  • Training in the use of PRA/PLA Methodologies for Community based programmes/projects;
  • Social support programmes for needy women and children
  • Hosting and facilitating public lectures, seminars, panel discussions, including Television and Radio Talk Shows on gender related issues;
  • Building professional skills in Social Development.
 

Expertise for these activities is drawn from the coordinated pool of research associates across the University.
