COUNCIL LAUDS SPATE OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE UNIVERSITY
The University Council has lauded the spate of development in the University, describing it as the significant outcome of the purposeful leadership and prudence of the present administration in the University.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator (Dr.) Olu Alabi, gave this commendation while speaking during Council’s inspection tour of all the development projects currently being executed in the University.
The Pro-Chancellor who led other Council members on the tour, noted that the projects when completed would go a long way in turning around fortunes of the University and improve its ranking in the comity of Universities.
Dr. Alabi, in his praise for the administrative foresight of the Vice-Chancellor and his team, asserted that posterity will reckon that they have contributed in no small measure towards the attainment of the lofty vision of the founding fathers of the University.
He however charged the University management to further empower the Physical Planning and Development Unit (PPDU) so that the staff can effectively carry out proper and thorough inspection of University projects, stressing that it is very important that contractors carry out their assignments in accordance with the specifications they are given.
The Council inspection team visited the Centre for Distance Learning Moro, the 1000-seater and 500-seater lecture theatres and their car parks, the access road linking Road-2 with UNIFECS, the Phase-A of the extension of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, the Natural History Museum, the Postgraduate College building, the OAU/OAUTHC link road, and the Opa Dam Headworks which is being upgraded.
