In accordance with the act establishing the Education Trust Fund (ETF), the board of trustees of the fund has decided to establish a research fund aimed at resuscitating research activities in nation's tertiary institutions.

The federal government has approved a sum of three billion naira through the ETF for research activities in nigerian universities.
