REGISTRY MOVES TO THE NEXT LEVEL
University Administrators and Staff have been urged to fully develop themselves and march forward in order to reach the pinnacle of their careers.
A renowned Professor of Medicine and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Wale Akinsola, gave this charge at a sensitization programme on Registry Strategic Plan organized by the Registry Strategic Plan Committee with the theme: “Advancing the Registry to the Next Level”.
Speaking on the Strategic Plan as it affects the Registry, Prof. Akinsola, said setting a medium and long-term goals for an organization and designing of strategic based on internal weaknesses and strength would definitely make a road-map for an administrator to achieve the corporate mission and objective of his organization. He has charged the Registry to have a coordinated and systematic process for develop a plan for the overall course and direction in order to optimize the Universities potential.
According to him, if this is strictly adhered by the University will keep pace with constant changing in the areas of programme priorities and funding policies, adding that it will make teaching, learning, research, and general governance more efficient and effective.
In her own contribution, Deputy Registrar and Director of Council Affairs, Mrs. D.I. Ocan, said the Registry as the advisory organ to Management and repository of all rules, regulations and procedures in the University, must constantly devise means through which it will keep a full grip of its responsibilities with respect to the administration of the University.
She asserted that since modern-day University administration is Information Communication Technology – driven, the quality and versatility of the service expected from the Registry must be in tune with the demands of the time.
According to her, despite being faced with strong challenges from globalization, insatiable quest for knowledge and great expectations from the stakeholders, Obafemi Awolowo University, over the years, has been more proactive in keeping up with its responsibilities to blaze-trail in research, impact knowledge and render services to the nation.
