PROSPECT OF THE COURSE
The question about the prospect of studying demography as a course has been a re-current one.
More importantly because the field is fairly a new one compared with the others in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
DEGREE OFFERED :
B.Sc. Demography and Social Statistics
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Direct Entry
- Two 'A' level passes in any of these subjects; Economics, Geography, Government, History
- Professional Diploma in Statistics and OND/ND and Diploma in Social Studies may be considered
University Matriculation Examination (UME)
- Five 'O' level credit passes including English, Mathematics and Economics, any two of Geography, Government and History, Physics, Chemistry.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AWARD OF A DEGREE
To be eligible for the award of a degree, a candidate must satisfactorily complete the minimum number of units prescribed for the degree. This would involve successfully completing the
approved University special electives (12 units), approved Faculty of Social Science courses, and the approved departmental compulsory and elective courses.
The breakdown: UME 136/Direct 106 Units
Part I: 30/34 Compulsory and elective courses
Part II: 35/36 Compulsory and elective
Part III: 35/36 Compulsory and elective
Part IV: 36 Compulsory and elective
Total: 76/60 Compulsory and Elective courses with 12 units special electives.
