| The Institute of Education was formally inaugurated in January 1968, it was to serve as a University-based institution co-operating and consulting with all the teacher training institutions in the then Western Region of Nigeria in matters affecting teacher education. It was mandated to organize in service training courses, hold conferences, conduct seminars and study programmes. Due to dynamic educational system, the institute has enlarged and redefined its roles over the years. |

In over forty years of its existence, Institute of Education has grown to be a leading centre for teacher education and educational research in Nigeria offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
As one of the largest conglomerate of research expertise from range of backgrounds, our research covers works in Science and ICT Education, Language Arts, Early Childhood and Social Studies Education.
