It is with pleasure that I welcome you to the

was established in 1977 to offer D.Sc. degree
programme in Quantity Surveying and in 1993,
the Department got approval to offer

The objective of the degree programmes in Quantity Surveying is to provide the education and training for a high level career in the construction industry. The students are taught various subjects which include construction economics, construction technology and materials, contract documentation and administration, law, cost planning and control of construction costs and the like.
The course trained and equipped students with the theoretical background and practical skills to enable them evaluate analytically the cost related issues of design and construction. These courses are taught by well seasoned, highly knowledgeable and experienced lecturers. The central role occupied by Quantity Surveyors in the construction industry calls for a multi-disciplinary knowledge of other related professional disciplines. The training of our students therefore embraces all facets of construction work. This is evident in the reports received from the employers of our products both in Nigeria and overseas. One of our products is a world renowned Professor in England. Another graduate of the Department holds a top post in the Engineering Services Department of the UN Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. A lot of them are erudite consultants, successful owners of consulting and contracting firms, competent, reliable, responsible and trustworthy staff in various offices locally and internationally. Since the inception of the B.Sc. programme in 1997 and postgraduate programme in 1993, there has been remarkable changes in the practice of Quantity Surveying in particular and the operations of the Construction Industry in general which had necessitated the review of the programmes from time to time taking cognizance of these charges in practice and the future trends. The Department welcomes brilliant, dynamic and articulate young men and women who can be trained and equipped with wide range of skills in contract documentation administration, cost planning and control, project management, construction economics and management to meet the ever increasing demands in the private and public sectors, the banks, armed forces, research and educational institutions and the construction industry both locally and internationally.
