Since the founding of The Faculty of Environmental Design and Management in 1970 with the establishment of the department of Estate Management in the Faculty of Technology. The department of Estate Management was expanded in October 1977 to include academic programmes and specializations in Architecture, Building, Quantity Surveying and Urban & Regional Planning. These five Departments metamorphosed in 1982 into a Faculty of Environmental Design and Management. The department of Fine Arts was added to it in 1990.

Since 1974, the faculty has been involved in the production of the various experts necessary for the efficient operation of the Construction Industry and the built environment. Our graduates are the most distinguished in their chosen profession and occupy important professional and managerial positions in the private and public organizations not only nationally but also internationally. As a matter of fact, they are in the forefront of the construction industry, charting the road for others to follow.

The faculty is also at the forefront in research and has viable postgraduate programmes in all fields of the Environmental Design and Management. This is because all the offices have connectivity to the internet for easy access to learning materials. Other sister Universities in the country look up unto us for the postgraduate training of their academic staff.

We are actively involved in a vital synergy with many and various Institutions, Corporate Bodies in Nigeria and overseas.
