The Faculty of Environmental Design and Management was established in 1982. Prior to 1982, there was the Department of Estate Management in the Faculty of Technology. This Department expanded in October 1977 to include academic programmes and specializations in Architecture, Building, Quantity Surveying and Urban and Regional Planning. The units eventually became discrete Departments in 1982 when the Faculty was formally founded. The Department of Fine and applied Arts was added to the five Departments in 1990.

Our mission as a Faculty of Environmental Design and Management is to produce very articulate, innovative and active personnel in the building industry for Government and Private Professionals as those of us in academic advance our Knowledge and Careers. The Faculty in essence provides for managers and Professionals within Nigeria and the World distinguished and Superior Graduates of Architecture, Building, Estate Surveying Fine and applied Arts, Quantity Surveying and Urban and Regional Planning through quality learning opportunities and useful interactions with the Stakeholders in the industry.

Our undergraduate products are indeed in the forefront of the Construction and Environmental management industry and charting the road for others to follow.

Our graduate, Masters and PhD Programmes are designed to create a truly innovative interactive Culture that foster new thinking and ideas. Both programmes are sensitive to the yearnings and the new developments in the Construction industry. Any Potential Student to this Faculty is assured of a Promise of Personal and Career fulfillment. We offer Knowledge in the latest Environmental trends and theories to solve real Challenges of our time in areas of learning.

The Faculty Provides a good basis and a Conducive environment for research. We have internet facilities located in all staff offices and in strategic points in the Faculty for easy access to learning materials. We are very proud of our seasoned, dedicated and selfless academic and non academic Staff that make things to happen here. We are also actively Connected with many institutions, Corporate bodies in Nigeria and Overseas.
