The
Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences is one of the three faculties
constituting the present College of Health Sciences. It was created
in 1993, when the old Faculty of Health Sciences went collegiate.
The Faculty is made up of eight Departments. They include the department
of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Chemical Pathology, Hematology and Immunology,
Medical Microbiology, Parasitology and Medical Rehabilitation.
Others are Morbid Anatomy and Forensic Medicine, Nursing Sciences
and Physiological Sciences. Two of the departments , Nursing Sciences
and Medical Rehabilitation offer Degree Courses in Nursing and Physiotherapy
at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
