My challenge to you

The Faculty of Administration boasts a history of academic excellence that is based on commitment, hard work and personal sacrifice. Therefore, to be an alumnus of such a proud faculty is not only a privilege, it is an achievement of considerable note.

As someone who has achieved that status, I feel certain that you would share the vision of establishing The Faculty of Administration as a world class African faculty. This vision has never been more relevant because recently the faculty turned 30 and it was an occasion to reflect on how we can seek to lay the foundation for excellence during the next 30 years.

This vision is supported by the dedication and commitment of the university's leadership and staff and is embodied in the Strategic Plan of the University. It is my call for you to join a new generation of pioneers, including staff, students, alumni and friends of the Faculty to collectively take up the challenge of raising 100 million naira over the next two years. This will be a significant injection into the Faculty’s general endowment funds which will be used to improve students access to a modern virtual library with computers, multimedia projectors and modern public address systems to teach large classes. In addition your contribution to this endowment will also go a long way in our efforts to renovate and rehabilitate the faculty.

My call is for an active, personal commitment that is visionary and brave; something that speaks of courage and a pioneering spirit. I believe that commitment will create a haven for serious intellectual pursuit and a cradle for young minds to be nourished and nurtured. Those minds, in turn, must take up the challenge and lay the foundation on which those who follow in their footsteps can build.

We could collectively give effect to OAU's vision and values, which will bring us closer to achieving our strategic objectives. Each of us can make a significant personal contribution to transformation and assist in developing human resource capital within Nigeria. I am aware that as an alumnus you appreciate the full impact that the achievement of this objective will have and I, therefore, appeal for your personal support, commitment and ownership of this campaign. In choosing how you respond to this, remember that it is not the size of the gift that counts but rather it is the principle of on going commitment that will contribute to this campaign's success.

I thank you for considering this and for playing an important role in creating a community that accepts our collective responsibility for the education and upliftment of successive generations.

Finally, as an alumnus of the Faculty we shall be very glad to hear from you especially, your achievements, challenges, exploits and accomplishments.
