The OAU alumni in UK had a successful Meeting in AUGUST 2006

Attended by 19 alumni and 11 family members making a total of 30 people, the guest lecture was delivered by the immediate past Vice-Chancellor Prof ROA Makanjuola.
Major highlights of the guest lecture are:

  • OAU still producing many graduates of high standard
  • OAU leads the way in information technology in Nigeria

  • Renowned for Siamese twins separation surgery

  • However, a major setback is the deteriorating state of the equipment and buildings

His suggestions on how we can help:

  • Support the campus renovation project – your contribution will be acknowledged and your name goes on the roll of honour in the university building
  • Link up with the National Association – register with them and support their activities
  • Project Ife image positively everywhere
  • Periodically visit the university to encourage the students and act as role models

Key highlights from the meeting:

  • Donation of £1000 to the College of Health Sciences through the Provost, Prof Balogun for the upgrading of the college website.
  • Developing of a website for the UK Alumni
  • Collaboration with lecturers at home and visits to our medical school to deliver guest lectures.

  • FORMATION OF A COLLEGE ALUMNI RELATION COMMITEE

With a vision to re-invigorate our College in playing more dynamic role in research, teaching, and services in the emerging world order, and to create an enabling environment which will enable us tap the goodwill and potentials of our alumni and other stakeholders for her upliftment, a "College Alumni Relations Committee" has been created.

The term of reference of the committee includes the following:

  • To compile an alumni database
  • To establish and facilitate linkages between our alumnus and the college, including the creation of a college website
  • To advice the office bf the Provost (and the college) on other matters that may be referred to it
  • To undertake other matters relevant to the promotion of alumni relations and the alma mata.

As part of its activities, the committee would be highlighting the achievements of our alumni in various parts of the world and organize an "annual distinguished alumni lecture", which has been named after our distinguished foundation dean, Professor T. Adesanya Ige Grillo of blessed memory.

The committee will also be in a position to respond to the needs of our alumni, including the establishment of relevant mechanism for follow-up on alumni's request for transcripts and other official documents relevant to their professional development.
