The bachelor’s degree in nursing programme of the Department of Nursing science, Obafemi Awolowo University was established in 1973. The programme was reviewed in 1982 and 1990. It was given full accreditation by the National University Commission (NUC) in 1991 since it was adjudged to have satisfied the NUC minimum standard for a professional degree. The Department of Nursing Science is at present equipped to offer both undergraduate (B.N.Sc.) and Postgraduate (M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Nursing) training in general, liberal and specialized professional type of education. The products are all over the place applying scientific principles in performing nursing skills in variety of settings, therapeutically assisting the individual, family and community with diverse backgrounds and health problems.
