OGUNBODEDE CALLS FOR IMPROVED STAFF EFFICIENCY AS TOMORI BAGS AWARD

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, has challenged the staff of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, to strive to maximize their potentials and output so that the University would to maintain the high standard it is known for.

Professor Ogunbodede said this at the opening ceremony of a two-day retreat for Deans, Heads of Departments, and Units as well as other middle level administrative staff, put together by the Staff Training and Development Unit (STDU) which had the Deputy Governor, State of Osun, Otunba Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori as the chairperson.

Speaking at the event the VC noted that private universities have in recent times begun to take the lead in tertiary education sector in the country. He called for improved output and efficiency from the members of staff, while also calling on the federal government and all educational stakeholders to review the Nations Education curricular to suit the 21st century.

In his words, “there are some private universities in this country that ranked higher than government-owned Universities. What we should be thinking about is how to improve our curricular, our personnel and our output, and more importantly, ourselves”.

Professor Ogunbodede also thanked Otunba Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori for receiving the award of excellence bestowed on her by the University as part of the programme.
