OAU TO EMBARK ON SEVERAL DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS, SAYS OGUNBODEDE

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede has told a delegation from Access Bank Plc that Obafemi Awolowo University has a lot of projects to embark on during the current administration and therefore used the medium to canvass for the support of commercial banks and other corporate and individual donors for a mutually-beneficial partnership with the University.

Professor Ogunbodede who said this in his remarks while receiving the bank’s 5-man delegation on a working visit in his office, expressed his excitement at their visit and disclosing that the University is in dire need of partnership to consolidate existing development and also to lunch new projects.
Also, the OAU administrator advocated for the support of the Bank in helping to set up a housing estate for staff of the University, adding that it will go a long way in solving accommodation problems for members of staff.

He said: “I want to welcome you to OAU and I thank you for this wonderful opportunity to address some immediate challenges facing us like students’ accommodation and renovation of buildings. That is why there are many projects going on now and we want to accomplish them in the next year.
So, we welcome partnership from Banks that will enable us to quickly embark on projects that we have at hand”.

Speaking further, the Vice-Chancellor noted that onus is on the various banks within the University to develop the banking area of the University, saying that the area as it is at the moment, does not fit the standard of Obafemi Awolowo University as Africa’s most beautiful campus. He also called for more quality and reliable services at the ATM galleries especially on weekends.
