The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and Diamond Bank Plc have commenced talks on how to further cement the bilateral relation between them, such that the developmental strides of the University will be re-invigorated and be made seamless.

An indication of these emerged in the course of a courtesy visit led by a Director of the Bank and Head, Lagos and West business, Mr. Chris Ofikulu, to familiarize himself with the University, having just assumed office.

Receiving the visitors, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Chris Ajila, who stood in for the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, thanked the bank for its remarkable support when the University hosted the NUGA Games, noting that the bank’s support went a long way in making the sporting event a success.

Professor Ajila stated further that the University will readily consider whatever the bank is planning to do in support of the development agenda, hinting that the University authorities have approved the bank’s request for another piece of land at the banking area, to build the bank’s campus branch.

The Leader of the bank’s delegation, Mr. Ofikulu had earlier told the DVC (Administration) that Diamond Bank is a leading new generation bank which has carved a niche for itself as anall encompassing retail bank offering its teeming customers value-addition services.

Mr. Ofikulu disclosed that the bank is prosposing to set up a galleria and an ICT centre among other projects in the University.
