The new executive committee members of the Home Branch of the Great Ife Alumni Association have taken the oaths of office that will usher in the new administration that will steer the wheels of its affairs for the next two years.

The event which was held inside the Committee Room-05, the Vice-chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede as the Chairman, also had Chairmen of the Worldwide and National branches ably represented,withProvosts and Deans and other distinguished members of the Home branch in attendance.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, commended the Dr. Moshood Sosan-led outgoing executives for their efforts in the advancement of the Home Branch of the Great Ife Alumni Association, disclosing that he had been receiving positive news about the association in recent times, just as he congratulatedthe incoming executives, expressing his confidence in their competence and saying the future of the association is in good hands.

He said: “I want to congratulate the outgoing executives because the news I have heard about the alumni in recent months have been very positive. This is because where there were disagreements over several years, such disagreements have been confined to the past, andnow, we have a resurgence, an advancement and a positive development in the home branch. I also congratulate the incoming executives. Apparently we have come together. That’s why I’m sure the association is in good hands.

Speaking further, Professor Ogunbodede acknowledged the home branch for the active roles it has played in giving support the worldwide association for the initiation of laudable projects that would bring development to the University.

“Let me commend the alumni association for the innovative ideas that is actually coming up now, I’m aware of the current expansion at the alumni center and also, the 8000- bed hostel that is also been facilitated by the alumni association. There is no way they can do that without the support of the Home Branch”, he added.

He however, challenged them to be a model and the strength for other Great Ife Alumni all around the world, pointing to the numerical strength and their presence in the University community as advantages. While stating his unalloyed support for the alumni association, Ogunbodede said, “we are supposed to be, not only in number but also in contribution and everything, the strength of the alumni worldwide and I’m happy that we are living up to that standard. I want to say also as Vice-Chancellor, I will do everything to support the alumni association.

Giving her inauguration speech as the Chairman of the Home Branch, Dr. Bisi-Johnson called for the support of the University while stating her readiness to uphold the association’slegacy and also to consolidate on existing achievements and pursue greater ones.
